Josiah
Josiah was born full term in July of 2005, but had a stroke along with severe bleeding in his brain from delivery complications. Living with cerebral palsy has been extremely hard on him and our family. Josiah is very smart but cannot speak verbally and has a very difficult time with motor skills. Before Conductive Education, he was unable to sit by himself or even keep his head up for long. We had Josiah in traditional therapy since he came home from the hospital but after 3 years we became increasingly frustrated. We barely saw results and realized that one or two hours a week wasn't doing much. After some trial and error with different therapies, we realized that we needed more. Our desperate search lead us to Conductive Education. We were drawn to the intensity of the CE program.
Conductive Education has been wonderful for Josiah. We are thankful for every moment spent with the conductors. We finally saw results that we knew Josiah was capable of if given the chance. Josiah immediately learned to trust others, besides his mom, and became more confident. With all the other kids around him I believe he became motivated. This inspiration gave him the desire to eat by mouth. Before this he was on a feeding tube and absolutely refused to swallow anything. But after the first week with CE, he was hungry for food and is now off the feeding tube completely and loves his mealtimes. Since Josiah learned that he can trust other people besides me, his mom, life is much easier for all of us. He is now able to attend preschool without me by his side and his teachers are completely astonished with how much he has progressed. Conductive Education has also helped with his head control, trunk control, speech and his fine motor skills. Josiah is definitely on his way to being able to walk on his own some day and that is a huge encouragement to all of us. We have been given hope through the blessing of Conductive Education. And last but not least, Josiah is so happy during his day at Conductive Ed. He loves being with other kids that he can relate to. This is such a difference from when I took him to Physical Therapy where he would be so sad and cry all the time. It was so boring for him that he wouldn't even have the desire to work his body hard. Conductive Education seems to have met Josiah's every need, and we couldn't be happier to have him on this path.
